The “Reverso” of two faces by Jaeger le Coultre
Surely the subject of watches has always fascinated, whether they are luxury watches or affordable watches that attract the interest of various age groups. A watch is that accessory you wear not only to know the time, in its daily use but because it attracts attention as an object of desire. On today’s watch market we find a wide choice of watches, from their size, colours and functionalities that we can see in modern versions.

It marked the history of Jaeger-Le Coutre by inventing the calibre 101, the smallest mechanical movement in the world at the time. In 1931, the Reverso watch was born, created for women with an art deco design, with a simple and clean geometry that fascinated both sexes. Created in collaboration with designer René-Alfred Chauvot, in response to a request for a watch designed to deal with situations involving shocks, with its slim rectangular case the Reverso is able to tip over to the wearer’s wrist to avoid shocks. It is a watch that can slide on its base upside down and this mechanism was patented by Chauvot. From it was born an elegant watch with a formality suitable for officers, lieutenants and those figures who required with their work sobriety without sacrificing quality.

The creation, entrusted to René, was an immediate success so much so that it sponsored polo players, the most famous in the world. Many businessmen used this model, choosing to engrave their initials on the back. A timepiece with a balance and elegance that made it popular with skiers and racing drivers, so much so that it was called a luxury sports watch, but not only suitable to match any outfit. More than 20 different models were produced in 1931, a limited edition consisting of a square dial. It is a watch that has also appeared in the cinema associated with the success of many actors.

The purpose of this watch has always been to protect the case, and over the years it has had all kinds of success when you work with the quality you always have remarkable results. The invention of the “Duetto” system was equipped with two dials, one opposite the other, which could be turned upside down and detect a jewel to be worn on special occasions. In 2012 the collection under the name “Rendez-Vous” offers an unprecedented choice of luxury watches for women with unparalleled sophistication and automatic Haute Horlogerie calibre. The “Reverso” since its inception was created to withstand the hard blows during polo matches and with impeccable workmanship.

The Maison has always worked by offering watches that had before anything else an aesthetic appeal with exceptional characteristics, which changed that search for something precious but not exaggerated. These are watches that absorb life on a wrist, perhaps to be passed from generation to generation. They live on wear and tear because they possess that charm that never tires you out. It is a watch to own and there are many variations, they have different materials and sizes. They are certainly an investment with its very interesting models such as the 968A with automatic winding made with 30 rubies and 207 components in total, it has a winding time of about 38 hours.

Also wonderful is the Due-Face created in 1994, which shows the local time on two sides with the idea of two distinct dials with the first blue side and the second silver with the manual calibre 854A/2 with a 42-hour winding while remaining in its unmistakable design of its classic line. A legend? Yes, because when a watch is a desire for possession it is already something we talk about.
