THE LOOK OF THE YEAR

I know, I know, a new year has begun and we are all now focused and turned to good intentions for this 2024 still in its infancy. Before, however, projecting myself completely into the year to come, allow me to take one last look at the 2023 that has just ended, because as an active member of the ‘Monaco Woman’ magazine I feel it is my duty to reserve the right space and attention for ‘The Look of the Year 40’.

Sanremo and the Riviera dei Fiori were once again at the centre of an important international event: “The Look of the Year”, the world’s most famous modeling brand, born in 1983 in the United States, which celebrated its 40th birthday on the evening of 30 October 2023 at the Ariston Theatre and which saw the Polish model Aleksandra Lada and the Brazilian model Yondel Matey as winners. Organised by Events World, it is a great container of initiatives aimed at promoting a direct link between those who create, support and wear fashion for a living. Forty years of fashion shows, encounters and experiences that have brought prestige to many young talents and made several top models famous worldwide: think of the legendary Cindy Crawford, Gisele Bündchen, Linda Evangelista, Stephanie Seymour, and then the most recent winners, at home at the shows of the main international Fashion Weeks, but also on the pages of the most important fashion magazines.

This is a prestigious recognition, as well as an important showcase for those involved in fashion in its various facets: an opportunity for ateliers, fashion accessory designers, stylists and fashion photographers to be able to present their creations and make themselves known internationally.
In this last edition, anticipated by an intense as well as articulated week of cultural meetings and fashion initiatives, it was possible to attend “The Look of the Year Happy Birthday – Special Edition”, a scenographic rewind to celebrate the important milestone, in one of the most renowned theatrical settings in Italy and beyond.

A combination strongly desired by Nuccio Cicirò and TLY Production to emphasise the importance of the event in which a remembrance of John Casablancas, founder of the brand, ten years after his death, was also featured.

Fifty models paraded, wearing clothes by important stylists from all over Europe, South America, East Asia and West Africa, with a retinue of media operators who, with their reportages, have taken the image of Sanremo and the Riviera all over the world. Aware of falling into the error (as obvious as it is forgivable) of appearing absolutely biased, I cannot help but mention the journalism award presented to my editor Alessia Castelli, who does nothing but reap little by little great satisfactions after having sown over the last three years of hard work, passion, commitment and determination. As proof of the excellent work done and the success of this event that has fashion as its beating heart, the 2024 edition has already been reconfirmed for 11 October, again at the Ariston Theatre.

Special thanks to IVANA TRIOLO & GRAZIA PITORRI.
