Roma Jewelry Week… The Precious World

The first edition of Roma Jewelry Week is being held from October 11 through 17, 2021. The event promises to be a success! 130 Italian and international jewelry designers will showcase their creations.  During this week, many exhibitions of contemporary jewels will be hosted by Roman galleries such as Incinque Open Art Monti Gallery and many jewelry stores will open their doors to the public. The project offers artists a great opportunity to be known and to receive excellent visibility.

The founder and Director of the whole project is the architect, Monica Cecchini. “We want to create a reference event to enhance the city of Rome and its vast cultural, intangible and artistic heritage” – says Monica.

The selection of participants has been curated by goldsmith artists Emanuele Leonardi and Bianca Cappello, jewelry historian and critic. Journalist Jonathan Giustini will moderate one of the scheduled events. Laura Astrologo Porché, jewelry journalist at Celebre Magazine World, Monaco Woman and Rinascimento Magazine supported the initiative through her page IG @journaldesbijoux. Marketing and press communication is managed by the consultant Eugenia Gadaleta.

The Incinque Jewels Award is the flagship event of the Roma Jewelry Week 2021. It is an international award promoted by Incinque Open Art Monti Cultural Association in Rome. This is a unique prize dedicated entirely to the promotion of excellence in both artistic vision and craftsman-like production.

The exhibition will take place October 15 – 17, 2021 at the archaeological site “Auditorium di Mecenate” in Rome which dates back to 30 BC. This venue is an ancient nymphaeum built by Gaius Cilnius Maecenas, advisor to Emperor Augustus and patron of writers and poets. Having the chance to exhibit at the Auditorium di Maecenas has an extraordinary value, not only because the site will be open to the public but also because it was the place where the Latin poets Virgil and Horace declaimed their verses, and where the sharing of art was promoted. The event is under the patronage of the First Municipality of Rome and Italy-America Chamber of Commerce in New York whose President is Mr. Alberto Milani, a jeweller himself. He will award a special prize to a young Italian jewelry designer.

The participation of “Università e Nobil Collegio degli Orefici, Gioiellieri e Argentieri”- an ancient corporation of goldsmiths, jewelers and silversmiths dating back to the 16th century, whose leader is the “Console Camerlengo” (Consul Chamberlain) Mr. Aldo Vitali – is a real feather in the cap of the event.

The beating heart of the event will be the guided tours. RJW aims to highlight the strong relationship between the history of Rome and the ancient goldsmith’s art. Seven itineraries are previewed in the historical city centre.

Plus, the artist Corrado Veneziano will exhibit nine artworks to celebrate the connection between the jewelry and precious stones to Dante’s Divine Comedy!
