I INVITE YOU TO …by Daniela Di Giorgio Ghirelli
I love the concept of Time that the ancient Greeks had and, among the different definitions, Kronos and Kairos are the most common ones. The first was a quantitative component, referring to the measurability of time with the passing of hours and minutes, determined and sequential; the second instead referred to a qualitative time, that of opportunity, that of the right moment, of being there with action and ability. In the history of art, Kairos was often portrayed as a young fugitive, with the particular feature of a bald head and only a tuft of hair, which was difficult to grasp.

Transposing this reflection to today: Kronos is the time of doing, that which, marked by minutes, by diaries, by phone calls, devours the desire to do something else, to reach what seems unattainable to us, because we never have time. Kairos is living in the present, it is savoring that moment of joy, of love, of friendship that makes us slow down and also gives a different meaning to everything. The balance between Kairos and Kronos, or even better a life where Kairos prevails, is an existence of quality, understanding and engaging daily in a different perception of Time, which helps us live with more satisfaction and gratitude.
So I invite you to make mistakes and not regret them! This is how you learn, because regrets are the greatest burdens when you become old, you understand from your mistakes, because there aren’t failures, only new learnings. Ignore judgements and be gentle with yourself. Many times, we women burden ourselves with duties, with feelings of guilt towards our partners, our children. Let’s free ourselves from these weights and ask ourselves, is this thought really useful for me? What if it’s all just in my head?

I invite you to collect good deeds of solidarity for others. If you want change, start from yourself and your world around will magically change. Respect your ideas completely, transform the word “duty” into “I choose … “, “I want to …”, so that you can be faithful and honest with yourself to achieve and live what you desire.
I invite you to think of your body as soil that feeds on what you feel, see, hear, taste and touch. Make use of them in the appropriate manner, don’t even waste a moment poisoning your body with thoughts that wear you out or behaviors that would lead to not doing good for and to yourself. Welcome fears and anger, give yourself permission to say NO, there are no wrong emotions, they are all legitimate, they are nothing more than chemical reactions of our body that must be listened to, because they never lie, unlike our mind which can lie.

I invite you to hug as much as possible the people you love; it seems trivial but sometimes we forget the importance of a caress or a good morning kiss. Furthermore, returning to the concept of time, we know how limited the life of our beloved pets, dogs or cats is. As a result, starting from tomorrow, what do you choose to do with your time, which is not infinite?
