The Clip collection, an icon of taste created by Gismondi 1754
Gismondi 1754 is a company with an ancient history going back seven generations, an all-Italian heritage. Its founder was the Genoese Giovan Battista Gismondi, born in 1754, the year that became an integral part of the brand. Giovan Battista soon made his way into the field of jewelry, becoming the official supplier to the noble Doria family and Pope Pius VI. This great tradition led Massimo Gismondi, the creative mind and present CEO of the company, to develop a unique style in which love for beauty, originality of design, and perfectly calculated asymmetries amaze and fascinate anyone who comes in contact with this art form. Gismondi 1754, more than a company, is a family – its members are proud to be an integral part of this creative endeavour and contribute to being ambassadors of Made in Italy and Italian savoir-faire in the world. It is no accident that this brand of jewelry has been worn by many celebrities such as Jane Fonda, Gwyneth Paltrow, Salma Hayek and Naomi Campbell, to name just a few. The company, recently quoted on the stock exchange, has maintained its Italian and especially Ligurian roots. The colours of the landscape of this strip of land squeezed between the depths of the sea and the mountains are a continuous source of inspiration for the creative mind of Massimo Gismondi, who never ceases to enchant us with the freshness of his creations.

The Clip collection, presented first at “The Couture” Las Vegas in August 2021 and then at Vicenza Oro in September 2021, has a simple name that evokes a paper clip. This everyday object used to hold documents together has a profound meaning that goes well with the values of the Maison: unity, simplicity and modernity. Apparently insignificant, a small clip manages to hold together fragments of life: it is humble, tiny, but flexible.

From this ingenious idea comes a fascinating collection of bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings. The jewelry is made of pink and white gold, enriched with diamonds and precious stones such as emeralds and pink and blue sapphires.

The line also includes two items of High Jewelry: a necklace combined with pink gold earrings embellished with a cascade of fancy yellow, brown and white diamonds.

This collection once again demonstrates Gismondi 1754’s ability to be a pioneer of style in terms of purity and modernity of its design while at the same time pioneering a new concept of jewelry that is well suited to the ésprit du temps. The Clip line is the emblem and seal of a promise of everlasting union and correspondence of feelings. Its modernity and sophistication make it unique and suitable for an everyday look and also a source of inspiration for poets who have not infrequently praised the humble “paper clip” in their works:
O knot in two dimensions,
tiny maze, shine on the rug,
little animal endemic
to desks, self-perpetuating
unendangered species,
trumpet too fine to sing!
Ode to a paper clip by James Richardson
