41st Snow Polo World Cup (23 – 25.01.26): Lake St. Moritz Becomes the unique Stage for the Snow Polo World Cup 2026

St. Moritz, 13 January 2026.

The surface of Lake St. Moritz still lies calm beneath the clear Engadin sky.

Yet even now, it is evident that something extraordinary is about to unfold.

With the long-awaited start of construction works, the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz 2026, which will take place from 23 – 25 January 2026, begins to take visible shape.

Exceptionally cold temperatures over the past days have created a stable and resilient ice cover. Forecasts predict continued cold weather, providing ideal conditions for the build-up and execution of the world’s only high-goal polo tournament played on snow.

Day by day, the frozen lake is transformed into an arena of international stature.

A polo field measuring approximately 200 × 100 metres is carefully prepared. Grandstands rise from the ice, alongside elegant tent structures – including a VIP tent for 900 people – towers, platforms and state-of-the-art technical installations.

A highly experienced, professional team moves 220 tonnes of material to bring this temporary world to life. The works are coordinated by the municipality-owned See-Infra AG in close collaboration with regional and specialised partners, requiring precision, expertise and seamless cooperation.

What emerges on the lake is far more than a sporting venue. The Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz has long been a major economic driver for the region.

With an annual value creation of around CHF 25 million, the event plays a key role in the Engadin and reinforces St. Moritz’s international standing as a premier winter sports and event destination.

While construction progresses on the ice, anticipation continues to grow around the globe.

Demand for tickets for the 2026 edition has reached an unprecedented level. The legendary gala at Badrutt’s Palace has been sold out for months. VIP- and Chukker Club tickets for Saturday and Sunday are completely sold out, with only a few remaining for Friday. General admission tickets for Saturday and Sunday are also selling extremely well. As tradition dictates, access to the polo grounds on Friday remains free of charge.

Reto Gaudenzi, Founder and CEO of the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz, states: “The ice conditions are very good and now allowed us to begin construction as planned. The unbelievable international interest and record-breaking ticket demand underline the global significance of this tournament. The Snow Polo World Cup is a strong statement for St. Moritz and the Engadin, both in sporting and economic terms.”

From 23 – 25 January 2026, the frozen lake will once again become the stage for an event unlike any other. International top players, partners, sponsors and media will meet tens of thousands of visitors from around the world. For three days, Lake St. Moritz is transformed into a truly unique polo arena, defined by its unmistakable setting and atmosphere.
