Tribute to Anna Piaggi signed by Giuseppe Fata

Milan Fashion Week: The World Icon of Art on the Head presents “Piaggissima”. Anna Piaggi, the irreverent queen of fashion who invented vintage, dresses up in Giuseppe Fata’s Sculptures.

 

 

Designer Giuseppe Fata presented his new headwear collection “Head Sculpture Designer Piaggissima” at Milan Fashion Week, a tribute to Anna Piaggi, an icon of style in Vogue Italia. The Piaggissima fashion project was created in collaboration with photographer Lello Chiappetta and Make-Up Artist Dario Caminiti, who has worked with the designer for more than a decade.

 

 

For this digital edition of the Milan shows, creative director Giuseppe Fata was inspired by an icon of world fashion journalism and international writer: Anna Piaggi, the irreverent queen of fashion who invented vintage.  The legendary Anna Piaggi, born in Milan in 1931, was a journalist, fashion consultant and trendsetter of whimsical talent. She loved clothes; in fact, it seems she had more than two thousand and never appeared in public with the same dress.

 

 

She has been a translator for Mondadori, served as Editor at Large for Condé Nast, writing for Vogue Italia magazines. Since 1980, she has directed the new project of the avant-garde magazine Vanity. This new and unique vision of ‘sculpture headgear’ conceived by Giuseppe Fata is characterised by the desire to retrace the history of an incredibly exuberant and highly eclectic character.

 

 

The Piaggissima collection is one of the protagonists of the Fashion Film “Drawer of Dreams” made by the Beauty Fashion Academy for Milano Fashion Week F/W 2021 in Countess Maria Teresa’s charming home Vespignani Boselli at the historic Palazzo Cuisine in Milan. For the presentation of the Fashion Film, Giuseppe Fata availed himself of the famous international stylist Elisabetta Polignano‘s extraordinary participation.

 

 

The inspiration for the name of the collection comes from the meeting between Miss Piaggi and the Fashion Designer Fata. They used a mix of vintage materials to create the pieces, precisely celebrating the style and taste of fashion through madness, authenticity and diversification.

 

 

Giuseppe Fata’s statement at the end of the event: “The inspiration for my new collection on sculpture heads comes from an episode that took place in Paris back in 1998. At the end of a fashion show, I met the famous Anna Piaggi. I recognised her and looked at her, fascinated by her strong personality. As she passed me, a bow fell from her hat, and I picked it up immediately. I immediately went towards her to give it back. Anna Piaggi thanked me and asked what my name was. Excited and enchanted, I answered her. At that point, she smiled at me and said: You can keep it! It’s a gift from me, treasure it… and one day you will remember me.

 

 

Giuseppe Fata did “treasure” of that. And today, more than twenty years later, the Genius of “Art on the Head” offers a unique and extraordinary collection, just like the myth that inspired it.
