After the launch of the Sorpasso, FV Frangivento has created the first series of three cars of the most powerful version of the new Made in Italy Berlinetta dedicated to the Middle East. The three cars, identified by the GT3 GROUP B name, have all been sold and will be delivered to their respective owners as early as the end of August.

The FV Frangivento Sorpasso was announced in two versions: Stradale and GTXX. This second variant, equipped with a supercharged engine and a more aggressive aesthetic, was used as the basis for a first batch of three cars that has already been sold. Designed and engineered by Giorgio Pirolo and Paolo Mancini, the Sorpasso GT3 GROUP B cars represent an important evolution of the Stradale both from a stylistic and mechanical point of view. They can be admired on display in the Blumenstrasse 1 showroom in Munich, also during the IAA days, thanks to the collaboration of the Turin-based company with Carlo Pirolo, brand ambassador for Germany.

Compared to the Sorpasso Stradale, the GT3 GROUP B have a more aggressive appearance, which underlines even more clearly the close stylistic link with the Asfanè hypercar, with clear aesthetic references to the GT3 and Group B racing cars. It is the intention of FV Frangivento, in fact, to take part in the Italian GT Championship in 2023. The Sorpasso GT3 GROUP B features more pronounced aerodynamic appendages and a huge carbon rear wing. In detail, specific elements can be seen, such as the air conveyor on the roof that extends towards the rear to create a central fin that joins the large tail wing or, in the front, the particular duck-billed wheel covers ending with Led lights, which also perform the function of front spoilers.

In general, the FV Frangivento Sorpasso GT3 GROUP B skilfully combine fluid surfaces with taut lines that take inspiration from iconic Italian sports cars of the past. Equipped with 20-inch OZ rims with Pirelli PZero Trofeo tires, the cars offer numerous tributes to the motorsport universe even inside the cockpit, where driver and passenger are welcome in a minimal but also highly sought-after cockpit that combines luxury finishes with racing materials. The upholsteries alternate leather, worked by the historic Turin atelier Mario Levi Group, with Alcantara.

The three cars of the GT3 GROUP B series were built according to the Ego Program, which allows customers to work side by side with technicians and stylists for 30 days to define every detail of their car. The cars have a special two-tone colour scheme with doors, roof and bonnet in black, to highlight the adoption of carbon fibre, and other panels with specific painting on request. The Ego Program allows customers to choose different materials for the interior and exterior finishes so that every customer can modify the car as desired. It is also possible to define solutions of unusual shapes and even the naming of the cars can be changed, in order to make each Sorpasso truly unique.

From a mechanical point of view, the Sorpasso GT3 GROUP B is powered by a 5.2 V10 engine with a volumetric compressor that delivers 880 HP. Thanks to the four-wheel drive and a weight-to-power ratio of 1.48 kg / CV (the full carbon body and the widespread use of lightweight materials have allowed the weight to be reduced to just 1,300 kg), this Italian Berlinetta runs from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2 “9 and from 0 to 200 km/h in 9” 3. The top speed is more than 340 km/h.

The FV Frangivento Sorpasso (and with it the three GT3 GROUP B cars too) also boasts another record. It is the first car to adopt the eeve.ai artificial intelligence technology of the Sistemevo group, an award-winning company for its Avatar Driving Assistant system: an intelligent co-driver, with customizable human features, with whom it is possible to interact using a natural language just like with a travel companion. Thanks to Italdesign support on the HMI system, the FV Frangivento Sorpasso confirms its distinctive personality also in the user experience. In the making of the Sorpasso, FV Frangivento made use of other historical Italian partners who have allowed this ambitious project to come to reality: Pirelli, Sparco, Mario Levi Group, Alcantara, OZ Racing Wheels, Sistemevo.

FV Frangivento (whose logo represents a stylized lightning bolt) is the embodiment of the design dream of Giorgio Pirolo and Paolo Mancini, two already established and recognized professional figures in the world of international automotive. Giorgio Pirolo in 20 years of career has designed for Ferrari, McLaren, Scania, Fiat, Iveco. Paolo Mancini and his family have been specialists for two generations in the design and construction of hand-beaten aluminium cars for renowned brands such as Aston Martin, Porsche, Zagato, Fiat Group.

Pirolo and Mancini find in the electric concept, presented by a nineteen-year-old Giorgio Pirolo in 1999 at the Lingotto Turin Motor Show, together with the American visual futurist designer Syd Mead, the right inspiration from which to start again. NURB (Non-Uniform Rational Basis), the prototype with an iconic design that inaugurated the design of the car in 3D and which had not aged in 15 years has been evolved with important stylistic updates and the inclusion of cutting-edge technical solutions.
