From Lagos to Chanel: Rachel Ojuromi’s Journey of Courage, Determination and Dreams
Some stories do more than inspire us. They remind us why we must keep believing in ourselves, even when the destination feels impossibly far away.
Some photographs are worth more than a thousand words. Rachel Ojuromi walking between the market stalls of Lagos, Nigeria, with the confidence of an international supermodel. And then Rachel in Paris, on the Chanel runway, beneath the lights of one of the most coveted stages in the world.

“Chanel in Africa”
Two seemingly distant worlds. One young woman. And a dream that never stopped moving forward.
When I discovered Rachel’s story, I stopped and looked at those photographs. Not only the runway images, beautiful and emotional, destined to travel around the world. What truly touched me were the pictures taken back home, among the streets of her city, surrounded by people and everyday life. Because that is where I see the most powerful part of her journey.
Rachel did not wait for someone to tell her that her time had come. She did not wait for the right invitation, the prestigious agency, the famous photographer or the influential contact who might change her life. She started with what she had, where she was, alongside the people who believed in her. She wore her clothes, transformed the streets of Lagos into her runway and found the courage to show herself to the world.

“Hot & Dangerous”
To me, this is what true beauty looks like. Not the perfect, polished beauty designed to please everyone, but the beauty of someone who has an idea in her heart and finds the strength to bring it to life, even when there are no guarantees that it will work.
Through her videos, Rachel has shared a different vision of fashion. She has shown us that style does not belong to prestigious addresses, that talent does not have to be born in the right place, and that the desire to become something more should never be limited by where we come from.
Then came Paris. On October 5, 2026, she walked for Chanel, bringing to life a dream that, until recently, might have seemed to belong to another lifetime.
But I do not want to tell this story as if everything happened by magic. Behind that moment lie creativity, hard work, persistence, countless attempts and the ability to believe in a vision before anyone else can see it. There is also the support of people like her friend and creative collaborator, Debby Fasingha, who helped turn an idea into something real.

“Hot & Dangerous”
This is what I deeply admire about Rachel: she did not wait until she had arrived to feel worthy of dreaming. She began living her dream long before the world acknowledged her right to do so.
As a woman and an entrepreneur, I feel a profound connection to this message. I know how important it is to keep going, to persevere, to reinvent ourselves and never allow our circumstances to become a sentence defining our future.
Today, Rachel can look at those photographs and see the journey that took her from the streets of Lagos to the Grand Palais in Paris. When I look at them, however, I see something beyond fashion. I see a young woman who refused to abandon her vision.
And I hope every girl who reads her story will carry one thought with her: you do not have to start in the right place. You do not need to have everything, know everyone or wait for someone to choose you.

“what’s a mob to the queen?”
You have to try. You have to believe enough to begin. You have to find the courage to take the first step, even when the road ahead has yet to be created.
Because sometimes the world will not open a door for you. And then you must find the strength to build one yourself.
Well done, Rachel. For the runway, of course. But above all, for having the courage to walk your own runway when the world was not yet watching.
Enjoy even more @Rachel Ojuromi
