Grand Tribute to Shirley Bassey with the “Life time Achievement Music Award” at this Year’s Grand Prix Maria Callas Monaco Gala & Awards, 5th Edition event.
A night of grandeur and emotion unfolded at the 5th edition of the Grand Prix Maria Callas Monaco Gala & Awards, held in the Principality of Monaco. The prestigious charity event has now become an annual institution, held under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
The glamorous evening, dedicated this year to children, was organized by the event’s President, renowned painter in Monaco, Ms. Ioanna Efthimiou. Those fortunate enough to attend, experienced unforgettable moments at the historic Monte Carlo Opera Salle Garnier, where distinguished guests from around the world gathered for this dazzling celebration of the arts.
The evening’s host was Greek PR Manager and opera singer George Davlas, a devoted admirer of Maria Callas, who not only presented the event but also captivated the audience with his operatic performance during the concert that followed.
This year’s Honorary Ambassador was the striking Greek attorney Theodora Michaloliakou, who awarded young classical artists from around the globe—emerging talents who stood out on the iconic stage of Salle Garnier at the Monte Carlo Opera.
The two-day celebration events included a high-end gourmet dinner at the iconic Café de Paris, a signature location in the heart of the Principality. The following day, April 25, the Maria Callas Opera Gala took place at the historic Salle Garnier in honor of the greatest Diva of all time Maria Callas, featuring awards to renowned artists and individuals recognized for their philanthropic efforts and contributions to environmental protection.
The first honoree of this year’s Maria Callas Monaco Awards was world-famous singer Shirley Bassey, who moved the packed opera house audience with her presence and touching words. 
Other honorees included well-known singer Plácido Domingo Jr., son of the legendary opera tenor; Princess Olimpia Colonna Di Paliano of Rome, who charmed attendees with her rare appearance; John Christodoulou, a respected figure in Monaco for his significant charitable work; the global humanitarian organization AMADE, founded in 1963 by the late Royal Highness Princess Grace of Monaco; Fabien Cousteau, ocean advocate and grandson of famed explorer Jacques-Yves Cousteau; as well as maritime innovation leaders Nicolas Sarrut and Greek yachting entrepreneur Vasiliki Grigoratou.
The evening culminated in a spectacular opera concert featuring Plácido Domingo Jr., Victoria Bulieieva, George Davlas, Elena Kelessidi, Simone Piazzola, Greta Cipriani, and Giuseppe Vaccaro.
One of the most striking moments of the evening was the awe-inspiring projection using artificial intelligence, which brought Maria Callas back to life on stage—leaving the audience speechles!
Once again, the Grand Prix Maria Callas Monaco Gala & Awards enchanted guests in a stunning event that will go down in history.
