GX Fashion Week: the tsunami that enchanted Milan and Paris
The GX Fashion Week Milan, held at the Chiostri di San Barnaba on September 18, 2024, represented a triumph of style, trend, and glamour, thanks to the clear vision of Gentiana Dervishi, president of the APS Showteam Association.
The event brought together past and present, utilizing the Renaissance architecture of the cloister, a former 15th-century convent, as a backdrop for haute couture runway shows. Designers showcased craftsmanship excellence, blending traditional techniques with textile innovations. Among the participants were Themistokli Mili (Nicol Sposa), Topmodel TV Collective Austria, composed of Julia Lara König, Christa Franz, Gayane Yeghiazaryan (Gaya Couture), Emanuel Burger, Manuel Essl. The Albania Design Academy, led by masters Ardi Asllani and Elsida Pepa, featured emerging talents in Albanian fashion such as Aurela Kalemi, Enada Mahmutaj, Besjana Hoxha, Aslama Galicaj, Rexhina Kurti, Ermelinda Metohu. Representing Italy was Angela Maria Sotgia (Angela’s Bags), and from Japan, (Hippy Samurai) Sinh. Umberto Michele Perrera, known for his 68 years on the catwalk, and Romina Bianca Sociu (Rima Blanca) from Romania also participated. Ten days later, on September 28, 2024, Paris hosted the GX Fashion Week at the iconic Galerie Bourbon, radiating the essence of contemporary fashion.
Gentiana Dervishi orchestrated this masterpiece of style and creativity, leading a vibrant mosaic of global talents in a crescendo of aesthetics and sophistication. This mosaic of creativity resonated in the extraordinary diversity of models, creating an authentic spectacle of transcultural and intercontinental fashion. One of the most evocative moments was the debut of (Hippy Samurai) Sinh, capturing attention with a harmonious fusion of tradition and avant-garde. Mexican designer Erika Yulisa Ibarra Vega (Skin by Erika Vega) celebrated intimate creations, while Erika Yeimeleth Islava Ibarra (Yei Design) presented a revolutionary collection. Owana Lima (Nicteel) introduced a touch of radical sustainability, blending Guatemalan cultural tradition with eco-friendly commitment. Ketty Nuñez (Kenu) skillfully amalgamated chromatic exuberance with Swiss design sobriety, while Mokodu Fall revived Africa with a symbolic and meaningful narrative.
Fouad Guerfi (Fouad Couture) concluded this apotheosis of creativity with his collection “You Better-Fly Butterfly,” modernly reinterpreting traditional Algerian costumes. The event’s organizational efficiency was ensured by Alessia Xhafa. Media coverage, curated by Cristina Iannò and Alessio Marrari, provided extensive visibility. At the end of the evening, Gentiana Dervishi shared a reflection that captured the spirit of both editions: “This GX Fashion Week represents the quintessence of our vision: celebrating diversity, excellence, and creativity without borders. We have created a platform that not only showcases talent but promotes cultural dialogue through the universal language of fashion.”
