Kafd Globe Soccer Awards
There was great excitement for the first edition of the Kafd Globe Soccer Awards, which for the first time did not take place as usual over the Christmas period and in the historic venue of Dubai. In fact, it was the splendid setting of Cala di Volpe that hosted the 2024 edition, which involved, as always, the most prestigious names in the international football industry involved this year in exploring the themes of sustainability and player welfare.

Under the organisation of Riccardo Silva, Marco Auletta and Tommaso Bendoni, the hosts of the ceremony were Melissa Satta and Tom Urquhart and they honoured the world’s biggest stars: Kylian Mbappè, the Paris Saint-Germain striker who this summer is about to be transferred to the Champions League winning team, Real Madrid; Xabi Alonso, author of a phenomenal season that led Bayer Leverkusen to victory by dominating the Bundesliga; Lamine Yamal, a talent only 16 years old and already a star of Barcelona who received the award for best emerging player.

Present to award the best teams were Mario Ferraro and Franco Carraro, CEO and President of Smeralda Holding respectively, the mayor of Arzachena Roberto Ragnedda, who had the honour of presenting the prize to the Italian Europa League winner Atalanta, Manchester City and, among the women’s teams, Barcelona.

Special prizes went to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Cesc Fabregas, coach of Como, newly promoted to Serie A, and the president of Paris Saint-Germain Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Several Italian representatives also had the honour of receiving the prestigious award, such as national team coach Luciano Spalletti, who arrived with Figc president Gabriele Gravina, and the head of the Italian delegation Gianluigi Buffon.
There was great emotion among those present for the lifetime achievement award, presented to the late home idol Gigi Riva and collected by his son Nicola.

Also present at the evening were some world-famous agents such as Jorge Mendez, and a representation of women’s football in the figures of Ballon d’Or agent Aitana Bonmati, Spaniard Cristian Martin, and lawyer and FIFA agent Claudia Romanelli of P&P Sportmanagement Women, agent of one of the strongest players in the Italian league Manuela Giugliano, and CEO of the Monegasque player management agency. The evening, which took place in the beautiful setting of the Hotel cala di Volpe, lasted well into the evening and was broadcast live on both the DAZN and Sky platforms. Special guests were the musical trio ‘il Volo’, who concluded the evening on the notes of Puccini’s famous opera ‘Nessun Dorma’.

A special occasion to bring to Italy an event of the highest international resonance that combines sport and glamour.
